Ayana is located in Jimbaran, Bali, and is a large resort consisting of a hotel, villas, a spa and restaurants. The whole resort is surrounded by pools, with direct access to a magnificent beach and the famous Rock Bar Bali.

In 2015 we stayed at the Rimba Jimbaran Bali hotel for three nights. The hotel is huge, located within the 90-hectare grounds of AYANA. Rimba is located in Jimbaran, 10 km away from Denpasar airport.

This luxurious 5-star hotel offers more than 400 rooms, with some of which has direct access to a large and shared pool. And pools is something Rimba, and the whole Ayana resort really has to offer.

Staying at Rimba you will have magnificent views of the ocean across tropical gardens and multi-layered swimming pools, making it a dream place for both children and grownups.

The reception area is stunning, in both size and view. But still warm and welcoming. Everything about Rimba Jimbaran Bali is big and impressive.

Want to sit in a somewhat strange sofa? Surrounded by water. Everything about Rimba Jimbaran Bali and the whole resort is about water.

It is not our typical choice when it comes to hotels. We usually go for villas or smaller hotels, where the service becomes more personal, and you feel more welcome. Having said that, we still enjoyed our stay at Rimba. The customer service was impeccable, from the time of arrival to our departure.

The Ayana resort is also the “home” of Rock Bar Bali. A beautiful bar and restaurant. Famous for it location amongst rocks, and for the best sunset experience looking over the Indian Ocean.

The bartenders at Rock Bar Bali serves all the cocktails and drinks you desire.

As always I might add, we started our holiday in Bali at Anantara Seminyak. After a few days here, we booked a transport from Seminyak to Jimbaran.

The reason for our stay at Rimba Jimbaran, was that we wanted to visit the famous temple of Uluwatu, and at that time Finns Beach Club. Finns have now moved to Canggu, and the “old” Finns have now become Sundays Beach Club. Definitely worth a visit.

Our stay in Rimba was in a small room. One room, with a king sized bed for Marianne and I, and a sleeping sofa for Hedvig and Gustav. The room was fresh, modern and although we where four, it still didn’t feel small.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

We stayed for three nights in this room. One bed, with a sofa bed for the kids. Not too small, but far from too big also. Book early if you want to secure a bigger room on the ground floor, for the access to the pool.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

Outside, between the pool and your room, you have a sofa bed to relax in.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

Each room on the ground floor has direct access to a large swimming pool. Just step outside, and dive in once you wake up in the morning.

Moving around Rimba Jimbaran is done by foot, and you have many pools and restaurants to chose from.

Relaxing by one of the many pools in Rimba and the whole Ayana resort.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

The favorite part of the resort – at least for the kids – was the waterslide leading into this pool. And the second best, was the “cave” leading from the pool, back to the top of the slide.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

There are statutes and water everywhere. Everything is thought about, making the whole resort pleasant and enjoyable – for both the kids and the parents. All around the pools, you will find restaurants serving all the different food of your choosing.

The whole resort is huge. And going between the different places including in the Ayana resort can take time. That’s why Ayana offer their own transport service.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

Ayana offers free transport between the hotel, villas and spa. Something the kids loved dearly to take. If you are eating out on one of the many restaurants in the resort, Ayana will also provide you with free transport in the evening – by golf carts.

If you want to go to the Rock Bar Bali, and you are staying at Rimba, you will need to use this “bus” during day. If you want to get back after dark, it will be by golf carts. The latter will often take longer time, as you will need to wait in line for your cart.  And if you go tired of the pools, and want to take a swim in the Indian Ocean, you will also have to rely on transport.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

If you don’t want to only use the pool, you can take the stairs down to a secluded beach. Good for snorkeling, but beware of the waves and the current. It can get pretty strong at times.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

The steps down to the beach is beautiful, and worth taking, even if you are not planning to take a swim in the ocean.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

Pretty close to paradise. The beach is very nice, and if you don’t feel like laying on the sand, there are sun beds also available.

During your stay at Rimba, you should also make time to enjoy the sunset from the hotels roof bar. Enjoy your company. Order a drink and some snacks, and sit back to enjoy the magnificent view.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

I regret I did not take more pictures of the sunset from the rooftop bar at Rimba Jimbaran Bali. Just make sure you go there. Extremely nice view, combined with calm music, nice drinks and something to eat. Perfect ending on a long and sunny day.

Overall we had a great time at Rimba Jimbaran and everything the whole Ayana resort had to offer. Some of the restaurants are very popular, so make sure you book your table in advance. If you decide to stay at Rimba, make sure to visit Rock Bar Bali also. But do book a car to visit some of the other sites around Uluwatu.

Rimba Jimbaran Bali

Time to leave Rimba Jimbaran Bali. Even though this is a bigger hotel and resort than we typically prefer, we had a great time here. Especially the kids, who loved to swim in all the different pools.
