Our favorite hotel in Bali is Anantara. We always start and end our Bali-holiday at Anantara Seminyak.
There are many things that make a hotel great. Anantara Seminyak has it all. Great location, pretty much on the Seminyak beach, huge rooms/suites and fantastic view over the beach. A perfect place for both sunrise and sunset is from the Moonlite restaurant on top of the hotel. And they serve fantastic food as well.
The rooms at Anantara are huge and spacious, with a large walk in closet, bathroom with toilet, shower and a tub, and a large room big enough for a whole family. The four of us have stayed all times in one room. One of the children in the sofa, the other in an extra bed, and us in the king sized bed. All the rooms have their own balcony, all of which are equipped with a bath tub, and a couch.
The staff at Anantara always tries to make your stay as personal as possible. We where met by these two swans during our last stay, as we arrived for our 10th year wedding anniversary.
Walking out of the reception area straight to the pool, with the fantastic Seminyak beach right below. Plenty of sun beds for a long relaxing day.
Our daughter, Hedvig, taking a rest from the sun, playing at the swing. In the back you have plenty of opportunities to rent a surfboard if you want to take on the great waves. And if you don’t know how to surf, you can rent an instructor also.
Marianne and Hedvig having a chat with one of the staff from Anantara Seminyak. Always there to help and assist. Always friendly and forthcoming. The staff is what makes Anantara Seminyak one of our favorite hotels in the world.
Hedvig and Gustav made many new friends at Anantara.
Hedvig enjoying (who wouldn’t) a milkshake.
I love the food in Bali, and one of my favorite meals is their Nasi Goreng. For both breakfast and dinner.
Looking down at the hotel and Seminyak beach from Moonlite restaurant, where you can watch the sun rise and set.
Anantara Seminyak is just small enough to make your stay feel personal. The rooms are big and spacious. Some of the rooms have seaview, but unless you travel with small children, you don’t want to spend too much time in your room. The rooftop restaurant – Moonlite – is a great place for both sunrise and sunsets, and serve great food throughout the whole day – and night. Far left on the hotel, you have the grand suite – if you need the space, and have the money….
I simply can’t get enough of the sunsets (and sunrises) when we are traveling in Bali. The sun sets around 18:00 hours (at least in July), and I always look forward to the magic it has over it.
The staff makes all the difference
But what makes Anantara Seminyak our favorite hotel in Bali, and one of our favorite hotels of them all, is the people working at Anantara Seminyak. Only one place have we all cried when leaving, and that is because we have become to love and appreciate many of the staff. Some of which have become friends. Close ones.
Preparing to leave for now. The whole family want to say “au revoir” to Dian, whom we have come to love. This time at Anantara Seminyak we got to meet her family also. Looking forward to seeing here and Anantara Seminyak again.
Lots to do while in Bali
During our stays at Anantara Seminyak, we also made sure to explore many other things in Bali. For a small sum of money you can rent a car with a driver (the latter is recommended as most people drive live crazy) for a full day to explore just what you want to see. You can walk to the center of Seminyak from Anantara. Will take you approximately 10 minutes, but Taxi is also an option, and a very cheap one. Be aware of the traffic though. Seminyak is always very busy.
While you are at Anantara Seminyak you should order some gems from The Bali Tailor. Shoes, jackets or perhaps a new bag for your PC. The Bali Tailor will visit you at your hotel, and custom fit everything as you want it.
Make sure you also visit the Watercress Cafe in Batu Belig. Perhaps you want to chill at Finns Beach Club? Start with breakfast at Watercress Cafe, and continue afterwards to Finns.
If you are planning to vist Bali for a longer time, don’t just spend it at Anantara. Book a boat to visit one of the other islands. Such as Gili Trawangan. We have been to Gili Trawangan twice. The first time we stayed at the Kokomo resort, whereas we rented the villa Coral Flora the last time, together with another family as well. Going to Bali? Go to Gili Trawangan also! You will not regret it, and staying at Coral Flora is perhaps the villa of your dreams.
See you soon
Anantara Seminyak has become almost like a home for us. And some of their people have almost become family. We try not to say goodbye when we leave, but rather say “see you soon” or “au revoir”, because we know we will come back again. As soon as possible.
